Paloma Salas

  This is one of my favorite pictures, it's me and my dad laughing. I don't remember when it was taken because I was very little, even my bed was next to my parents' bed. I like this picture because what my parents told me was that my dad was waving at the camera and I did the same to imitate him. Well, beyond the story behind the picture, I can see how happy he makes me every time I'm with him <3 obviously with my mommy too haha. What I see and this picture represents is how happy I was all my childhood thanks to my family, as I am very attached to them, not only to my core family but I see almost daily my uncles and cousins, as we live a couple of minutes walk away. I am the youngest among all the nieces and nephews so I was always the most spoiled (I still am) among all of them. For as long as I can remember I live in the country, I was supposed to move to Santiago in 2020 for the university but due to the pandemic it was not possible. Now that I spent even ...

 This blog has been the most complex to write. The truth is that I have never been very clear about my future or anything about it, I leave most of my choices to the last minute even though I know I shouldn't. At the moment I want to continue studying Anthropology (and Archaeology next year).  Right now I want to continue studying Anthropology (and Archaeology next year), my idea is to go little by little because it makes me very anxious to think about what I will face in a few years, that is, working and everything that implies being an "adult". After I finish my degree I will consider if this is what I want to do all my life or not.  In the case that it is, after I get my degree I would like to stay in Chile to take one of the postgraduate degrees offered by the University of Chile in Archaeology and study as much as I can about the cultures that existed in the past, from the north to the south. At present I am sure of my career choice, so the major I want next year is Archaeology, although I still have doubts about social anthropology. However, if I had the certainty of finding a job as an archaeologist I would choose it without any doubt. So this is my dream job. I would like to work in the downtown area, especially to work for a while in the Santa Cruz museum, because it is a place full of ancient objects, in very good condition. I would like the people who work there to give more information about the relics, because it would be more interesting if they could explain extensively the things that are there, many times there are no people in charge of it and the sense of the museum is lost. If I can dream big, my dream job is to work on some archaeological project that takes place in the north (or something related to the search for Friendship Island hahahaha, as there are many stories regarding this related to fantasy or the military dictatorship).
